For anyone taking the time to read this, thank you. Many of you may know me, but a few will not. This is my 5-year journey of professional and personal triumphs, from walking through the door with BB to a celebratory 1 month-paid sabbatical. It’s an insight into the achievements we’ve made together and what life is like behind the phone.
My first 5 years at BB have been an interesting rollercoaster, with the high-speed curves of a global pandemic, jumping tracks with 4 office moves, but plenty of time with my arms in the air celebrating some big personal milestones. The one thing I can say is that I have grown a lot. Having 7 years of recruitment experience and being one of the least experienced within the business has its benefits: being surrounded by people with double and triple my experience has been an incredible learning tool, and they’ve helped to straighten-out the tracks on more than one occasion.
I promised to tell you about life behind the phone, so, just what is it that I actually do? Well, I recruit transactional, part-qualified, and newly qualified accountants across East Anglia, with a particular focus on Peterborough, Huntingdon, South Lincs, and Fenland, whether this be in industry or practice.
All of this has led to professional improvements, and I have also become a better person mentally and physically because of it. Some of my biggest achievements over the last 5 years include:
All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my peers in the Peterborough office and across the wider business. This all comes from a combination of hard work and the flexibility afforded to me from day 1 with BB.
Having confidence to start a family, knowing I can be around when needed at the drop of a hat, hybrid working and being flexible with those hours, no questions asked just the feeling of trust from the management, at all times. Personally, the flexibility has led to a much healthier lifestyle, too, with a gym membership as a benefit at BB, which really helped me train for the half marathon.
Their are positive role-models all around me within BB, all wanting the best for me and they have helped and inspired me to realise some wonderful lifestyle choices. The biggest of which, as I’ve stated, led me to lose 5 stone in weight and run a half marathon – a pipe dream at my heaviest – but has led me to having a far better state of mind and improved my performance at work.
Reaching a 5-year milestone with BB, means a 1 month paid sabbatical – that I can not wait to benefit from!
The opportunity to make memories with my family, and to be working with a company that celebrates milestones is truly amazing. For me, taking August 2024 off, married to a teacher, it was the only option! Being able to take this whenever you want with no restrictions and having the business support me during the busy holiday season is something I won’t forget. I am off to enjoy a cruise and some time in Cornwall, spending quality time with the family. Looking forward to seeing what 5 more years can bring, excited for August and see how life is in September!
