I have a first-class degree in Business Management and worked at Manpower part-time during my studies. I know it’s such a cliché, but I did fall into recruitment, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my career and because I had experience in recruitment it was the natural next step. I began as a resourcer 11 years ago and have never looked back. I’ve always worked in finance and accountancy in the public sector in the Northeast, starting out working for a large consultancy and progressing to managing a team. I wanted to step away from management to concentrate on doing what I love which is finding people their dream roles. BB gave me the opportunity to set up the finance public sector offering in the NE which was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
I love being independent and take great enjoyment out of achieving my own goals. I get such a sense of achievement when I get to offer someone a role and change their situation. Whether that’s someone in a senior level or placing a graduate in their first ‘proper’ finance role that’s the start of their career. It’s the best feeling to know you’ve supported someone and made a difference to their life.
I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend many networking events throughout my career, enabling me to educate myself in the finance sector further. I’m passionate when it comes to learning about challenges, future strategies and how they contribute to bettering the lives of people across the regions. I especially enjoy the motivational speakers at such events, a highlight of mine being when Olympian Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards delivered an inspirational speech at an NHS Healthcare Financial Management Association dinner. I spent over an hour talking to him afterwards, what an incredible person he is.
Before graduating in Business Management, I completed a Diploma in Animal Management because of my love of animals, David Attenborough is my idol! I have a black and tan Dachshund named Claude who has his own Instagram page with over 5,000 followers! Claude and I are doing a sponsored walk for Stand up to Cancer in April, we are going to walk 60 miles, for more information and to sponsor us click here. I also love music and going to gigs and festivals, I have lots planned for this year.
