      Who will you be working for?
      Maybe you were on the fence when you were going to, or graduating from University and consider a career in education and developing the minds of the next generation of leaders and thought “Could I be a teacher?” but you soon realised that teaching was probably not for you or you decided that your passion was more to engage people with finance rather than children with the national curriculum. You might however have always fancied the idea of working in a school or in and environment where you are contributing positively to the world rather than simply lining the pockets of shareholders.

      What will you be doing?
      As a Finance Manager you won’t be stuck behind the same desk, you’ll be supporting two difference schools across the trust ensuring they have the financial and transactional support needed to be able to focus on providing the best education they possibly can to local children.

      Key areas of delivery will include:

      • Collaborating closely with the FD providing principals and budget Managers across all schools, providing regular financial updates and ensuring they understand and interpret financial data to support their decision making processes.
      • Controlling and challenging budgetary expenditure, identifying opportunities / risks to prevent overspend and always ensuring best value for money.
      • Delivering financial training to non-finance staff within the Academy Trust teams and liaise with other members of staff in relation to general financial issues.
      • Payroll and other ad hoc finance tasks
      • Leading, managing and developing a small finance team.

      What will you need to offer?

      To be successfully considered for this role, candidates will possess the following skills and experience:

      • Previous finance manager / management accountant ideally within experience within the education sector, but it a great opportunity for someone to move into this sector, shared values are more important than sector experience for this role
      • Ideally knowledge of academy schools finance handbook, again shared values are more important, but this would be useful
      • Qualified accountant – ACCA / ACA / CIMA / CIPFA
      • This role will cover several school sites so access to a car is needed and you’ll need to live within a commutable distance of Leeds as around 60% of your time will be spent onsite.

      What’s in it for you?

      • c£52,000 – £58,000 depending upon relevant experience
