Salary Guide Survey Insights: What Professionals Told Us

At Broster Buchanan, understanding professionals’ evolving priorities and preferences is at the heart of what we do. In our latest Salary Guide survey, over 2,000 people shared their thoughts on workplace benefits, job search habits, and employment trends. Here are the key insights we uncovered:

        What Workplace Benefits Matter Most?

We asked professionals about the workplace benefits they value most. The results revealed a range of preferences, with the following coming atop the list:

        • Company Culture: This was chosen by 18% of respondents and highlights the critical role a strong, positive workplace culture plays in attracting and retaining top talent.
        • Hybrid Working: Joint top in our salary survey was a hybrid working environment. 18% of workers cited the continued demand for flexibility in balancing office and remote work as key for their work life.
        • Flexible Working Hours: Selected by 14% as their most valued benefit. Hot on the heels of hybrid working, flexible working hours further emphasis the need for an adaptable work environment.
        • Remote Working: To further solidify the changing working landscape, remote working was chosen by 13%, which shows how important a consideration remote practice has become for many professionals.

Where Do Candidates Start Their Job Search?

Our survey revealed the platforms candidates turn to first when exploring career opportunities:

        • LinkedIn: Every single one of our salary guide respondents said that they begin job searching on the incredibly popular social media platform. This response confirms the status of LinkedIn as the go-to platform for career networking and opportunities.
        • Job Boards: A popular secondary tool for candidates are job boards, which continue to play an essential role in the recruitment process.
        • Recruitment Agencies: 27% of respondents now turn to recruiters, underlining the value of specialised recruiting in facilitating targeted placements and career transitions/progressions.

        Employment Trends and Career Mobility

We also gained insights into employment trends and candidates’ openness to new opportunities:

        • Employment Status: The majority (57.9%) of respondents were in permanent positions, with only 14% in contract positions. However, contract roles are becoming increasingly attractive due to budgeting restructures, and this signals potential growth in this area – definitely something to keep an eye on this year!
        • Career Mobility: 47% of candidates are open to exploring new opportunities immediately, creating a dynamic and highly engaged talent pool.

What Does This Mean for Employers?

These findings offer valuable takeaways for businesses looking to secure top talent:

        • Prioritise Company Culture: A strong and inclusive culture remains a key differentiator in attracting and retaining employees.
        • Embrace Flexible Working: Offering hybrid and flexible arrangements appears to be crucial in meeting modern employee expectations.
        • Leverage the Right Channels: No one platform is necessarily better than another, therefore, an eye on multi-channel recruiting could be valuable in finding the right candidate. LinkedIn and job boards remain important, but recruitment agencies are looking essential for connecting with top talent.
        • Be Open to Contract Hires: With contract roles on the rise, they may provide a strategic solution for addressing talent needs in a fluctuating market.

With nearly half of candidates ready to explore new opportunities, there has never been a better time to strengthen your team. By contacting Broster Buchanan today, you can make sure you’re not missing out.
