      Celebrating Milestones – Dom Cassidy

May was a significant month for us at Broster Buchanan for a couple of reasons. We were awarded Sunday Times Best Places to Work status for 2024, which also happened to land in the month that we ticked through the nine-year mark since we started the business.

It’s hard to quantify how happy I feel about both milestones, which represent the ability and sheer hard work of every single person in the business.

Our progress to the eight-office nationwide business that we are today has not always been an easy ride, but when I do pause and reflect on what we have become over these nine years, there are so many positives. A fantastic team of recruiters and directors, supported tirelessly by our brilliant finance, marketing and HR functions.

Our decision to invest in the expertise of our professional support functions, along with several enabling technologies across the business, has been a real catalyst for us over the last few years. We have evolved from a team of talented recruiters harnessing years’ worth of relationships into the same offering, but with much greater enablement from the technology and AI that is available to us. We have come a long way from our early days of designing our own invoice templates and basing ourselves in hotel lobbies!

The fact that the first six of us to set the business up are still here today speaks volumes for me. Those people, and indeed all that are with us now, have created a culture of commitment, innovation, fun, and resilience. There have been plenty of knocks, and no doubt will be plenty more to come, but the wins over the past nine years have far exceeded these, and when I look at what we have all created I feel a huge sense of pride.

That’s why receiving the award meant so much to me on a personal level, along with the fantastic comment that it is on every single person that makes our business what it is. It feels like validation for what we do, how hard we work, how closely we all try to support each other.

The culture that our people have created, that makes Broster Buchanan what it is, really does feel special to me. Our challenge is to maintain and continually improve this. Whilst not an easy task, it is one that I’m looking forward to.
