      Broster Buchanan are excited to be supporting a really entrepreneurial retail business based in Kirton, Boston in their search for a Finance Director. 

      Starting as a spare bedroom business back in 2005, Sportsbikeshop is now the UK’s largest retailer of motorcycle gear.  Getting there wasn’t easy, but they managed it via unrivalled customer service and an ever-improving value proposition.

      Today, they are a truly omnichannel player with an industry leading website, and a growing network of stores across the UK (currently 9 but watch this space!).

      The Role:
      It’s pretty simple, they need a Finance Director who can take charge of all things finance at Sportsbikeshop. You will be responsible for keeping the company’s finances in check, help them make smart financial decisions, and driving profitability. You’ll need to be comfortable navigating the challenges of both online and offline retail, and you’ll play a key role as part of the small but devoted management team. 

      What You’ll Be Doing:

      Strategy:

      • Shape and implement the financial strategy to support growth across both ecomm and the stores.
      • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes
      • Provide financial insights and advice to the leadership team to help with long-term planning

      Reporting:

      • Both work on, and oversee, the delivery of the monthly management reports to group 
      • Analyse performance and trends, providing recommendations to the team
      • Ensure we’re compliant with all the usual financial regulations and accounting standards 

      Cash Flow:

      • Keep a close eye on cash flow, making sure  have what we need to make the plan work
      • Manage our banking relationships
      • Work on optimising inventory levels

      Cost Control:

      • Keep expenses under control while still supporting growth
      • Streamline costs wherever possible

      Team Leadership:

      • Lead the finance / purchasing team
      • Work closely with other departments, like operations and development, to help support the plan

      Systems & Technology:

      • Oversee financial systems and ensure they’re functioning properly
      • Make sure our financial data is accurate, secure, and easily accessible
      • Support system integration with our e-commerce platform / ‘CMS’

      Stakeholder Management:

      • Be the go-to person for external stakeholders, including auditors and group
      • Prepare financial presentations for board meetings and group updates

      To apply for this role, you will need to be:

      • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) ideally initially within a commercial organisation that is ideally in an environment that is fast moving and ever changing.
      • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Finance role ideally within a retail organisation. High degree of communication skills, with both Finance and non‐finance professionals.
      • Experience of managing and motivating staff within a Finance Department. Understanding of, and empathy with, the work of internal staff.
      • Excellent systems and Excel skills. 
      • Strong digital skills, with experience of automation preferable with experience of developing and implementing efficient and effective Financial Procedures and Controls. 
      • Thorough practical understanding and application of Management Accounting principles and techniques.  
      • First-hand experience of Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting and producing Management Information at Group, Company and Departmental level. Ability to understand the detail as well as the bigger picture.
