      Getting to know…

      Rachel Pike, Managing Director.

Tell us a bit about yourself…

I’ve worked in recruitment for over 20 years now, however, that wasn’t my initial plan. Whilst at University, I joined The University of Air Squadron initially wanting to pursue a career in the RAF. However, recruitment was calling, and I started out at an independent boutique in Nottingham before working for a couple of other recruitment businesses, where I met some great people along the way, some of who I work with now at Broster Buchanan.

      What drives you?

I strive to be the very best version of myself, I’m driven by achievements and goals, and I’m always looking for my next challenge. I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie, last year I did my first skydive to overcome my fear of heights!

Passionate about continuous learning; I set out to complete a Master’s in Human Resource Management as a mature student and loved this in the main, despite the challenges of us setting up a new business and juggling home life! I recently completed over 12 months of sobriety just because….! Another recent goal I set myself one morning was to run half a marathon distance that day and so I did!

Tell us about your career highlights

My highlights are all relative to my tenure in recruitment. The feeling I got from my first-ever placement was as good a feeling as my recent promotion. I was employee number 1 at Broster Buchanan even though I was adamant I was no longer pursuing agency recruitment, but it was a challenge I couldn’t turn down along with the potential chance to work with people I had known and trusted for years. I’ve enjoyed being a part of this adventure from the start, and it is the best feeling to look back at what we have achieved.

      Personal facts

I have been happily married for 16 years (a long time!!) and am a proud Mum to three boys aged 13, 11, and 8. I think it’s fair to say our house is absolute carnage, but I love it. I spend a lot of time at the football and rugby pitches acting as a taxi driver for the boys or walking our dogs. We recently got a puppy which I’m sure having read this article it won’t shock you to know was my idea in a moment of madness! Having me time is really important, I enjoy running and fitness, spa days, reading, anything that’s focused on silence!
