Looking back at 2023 and ahead to 2024… Kevin Moran

My final blog of the year…

I was once told as you get older years seem to disappear! I can 100% agree to this in 2023. I posted my first blog on January 4th, where I discussed the rules of making and breaking habits in 2023 and set the following resolutions:

      1. Continue my fitness journey, which in turn helps my mental health and in turn creates my foundation for me, my family, friends, and the Broster Buchanan team. I have started to choose better options when it comes to food and drink, and I have also introduced fasting into my daily routine. Again,  another fantastic episode from The Diary of the CEO with Doctor Tim Spector “The Shocking New Truth About Weight Loss, Calories & Diets!” This was a game changer for me to really challenge what I’m eating and how, here is the link, highly recommend taking a listen:
      2. New year and new role as I step into the Chief Revenue Office (CRO), this is new territory for me and for Broster Buchanan, a role that reflects the hard work and growth of the business from everyone (past and present) over the past 8 years, a role that we feel is going to be vital to the business in 2023 and beyond. The focus is to partner closer with our clients (current and new) to ensure we are partnering to achieve commercial solutions that offer real value. I am passionate about people and understanding how to provide solutions, working in partnership to help businesses grow with the best talent for their business. As Broster Buchanan continues to grow across the UK and internationally, it is important to me that Broster Buchanan’s DNA remains as we continue to evolve as a business. I know this is going to be both challenging and rewarding and will take me out of my comfort zone. To quote Richard Branson, “I don’t think it would be much fun to not to be outside my comfort zone”.
      3. Have no regrets, I know I will make mistakes throughout 2023, and I am keen to adopt the mindset of embracing a mistake, learning from it, and moving on. I am considering putting a regular blog together to share my experiences (this is 100% outside my comfort zone!) Watch this space.

For me, it’s been a great 2023, hard work and still a lot to do, but I am happy to report my fitness journey is still ongoing, it’s really become a lifestyle where I give myself the right balance and am keen to push on to the next level of fitness in 2024. I will continue to keep an update on my blogs in 2024.

My role evolved throughout 2023 and has proven to be a great challenge and very rewarding. The market has had its challenges, but all in all, it has been a great first year as the CRO with some fantastic new relationships formed alongside strengthening previous relationships. As a business, we are working on several exciting internal projects around data and AI, ED&I, and the ongoing development of our new BB website.

I would like to thank anybody who has taken the time to read my blogs in 2023. I hope that you have enjoyed the content; this is still very much out of my comfort zone!

Going into 2024, I hope to have more to discuss, including the Broster Buchanan Women in Tech Podcast, series 2, which will be coming out early next year. I have had the privilege to speak to several inspirational Women who have fantastic stories to share

Have a fantastic Christmas & New Year, relax, refocus, and bring on 2024!

I will leave you with this quote to reflect on over the festive break.

“Success is not Final; Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts”.

      Winston Churchill
